I'm getting ready to sell my webplayer and want to put it back to the factory settings, ie. boot to the DOC. No matter what I change in the BIOS, I keep getting Disk I/O error messages. It's been awhile since I set it up for a hard drive and now I can't remember how to put it back. Someone please help. Thanks.

I'm interested in buying the thing w/ or w/o factory defaults (family wants mine, second one would be cool).

But I don't think you had to tell the BIOS to use the HD in the first place, thus you should be able to just replace the DOC (if you removed it), take out the HD, and it should boot from the DOC again (I think). Please correct me if I'm wrong in any aspect of this. It's been a little while since configured mine for a HD, but I didn't remember having to do much configuration.

Chris,

The DOC is still in there. If I remember correct there were several things that needed changing for it to see the harddrive. One was to enable the IDE controller. One was to set the OS ti Win95. And the only other thing I can remeber was to set the disk access to DOS. I've switched everything back, but it still won't see the DOC. No mods permanent mods have been done to it. I have the webplayer (new, refurbished), a 3gig hardrive freshly formatted and bootable with the entire Win98SE install disk copied over to it. I also have the 12" harddrive cable from BadFlash. I also have the Dell Truemobile 1150 mini pci wirelles card with cable, as well as the Orinoco Range Extender antenna that connects to the cable. Some people have reported problems with this card but I had it working fine with my Linksys wireless router. Just never put it all together and have lost interest. If you want to make an offer, email me at slytwynecATcomcastDOTnet. Otherwise I am still looking for help in getting the DOC to work before it goes on ebay.
