I'm sorry but I got lost along the way. I can get to the BIOS page with "schwasck", but then exactly how do I get to the setup panel and once there which of the eight tabs do I need to go to in order to alter my dial-in phone number, user name, and password so that I can use my own ISP when the Webplayer service is discontinued next week? Thanks.

I was wondering what the 'setup' password thread was all about. So that, in theory allows you to get in there and do some editing to change the dialup info, right?
Once in, what files need to be changed? Where are they located?
What editor is included?
Could somebody post the contents of the files so I could see what I need to change?
Thanks.

when i click ctrl-f1 it just takes me to basic setup. no rotating password screen. It even says on the login screen "Press ctrl+f1 to enter your ISP settings". Do i have a different version?

You have the current version installed by Boundless like all of us who bought from ubid.com. I think the rotating password stuff is obsolete and applied to the early webplayers when Virgin was in business.

i see. ok. i'm still having problems connecting. maybe because i am using netzero. it dials, then tells me my password is wrong. Don't know why. So anyway. the only thing you can do with an out of the box wp is dial up. no way to get into the os?

Are your LAN settings ok for NETZERO on the webplayer? For my ISP, I had to enter a few IP (DNS, WINS, etc) numbers to get logged in properly. Probably you should search on "DNS" in your netzero help page.

RE:How Do You Get To The Setup Panel with The Rotating Password Numbers? (modified 0 times)
that is because net zero encodes your password ie if your password was "jackass" then the netzero dialer would change that to "121423jackass" or something like that. There are programs out there that will convert your password to the netzero password. I don't know them off hand but have used them before i would check out this really cool site http://www.google.com
Or find a better local free isp if you are in the seattle area use www.nocharge.com they don't even make you get a user account!! How cool is that

hack your own you will love it more

I too have the boundless version without rotating passwords. I noticed that there are setting for putting it on a LAN. Does anybody know which USB or mini PCI Ethernet can be used with the original OS?
Thanks

If the previous answers on this board are correct. the usb ports are not functional on this version of the WP. I've actually tried a 3com usb nic and only got alternating flashing lights on the nic.
