Cannot get WebPlayer to boot.

Hello all. I've had my player since mid-November. When I got it, I went ahead and put in a HDD and connected the USB NIC (Microsoft MN-110). Everything was working great. Shut everything down and put it away to wait on the rest of the parts (Fan, Mini-PCI NIC, Molex Connectors, & Laptop CD-Rom). Finally got everything, and started putting them in. Installed the fan and then tried to boot up. I got the backlight and a speaker pop, then nothing else. I've been reading the forum for a while, so I thought it might be the LCD cable or the memory, but the cable looks OK and the memory tests fine in my laptop (Memory worked in the Player before).

As an experiment, I tried putting the Mini-PCI NIC in (The Intel one), and while I still cannot access the system BIOS or boot the OS, the NIC BIOS tries to boot off of network (I see the boot messages on the display). This confirms that the LCD cable is OK. Anyone have any ideas what could be going on? I've tried four different SODIMMS, and none of them are working.

On a side note, I have tried booting without any drive attached and I still get nothing. Although, if I put the DOC back in, I do get a Disk I/O error.

Thanks in advance,
Derek Payne

I appear to have fixed my own problem. Turns out, the simplest solution was the best. I replaced the batteries in the keyboard and started hitting F2 like mad. BIOS options had reset to no boot messages and wasn't seeing the HDD. Got all that taken care of now.

Thanks,
Derek
