Which revision is easiest to hack? (modified 0 times)
Jason
I have a chance to choose from several i-openers. The boxes are sealed, so all I have to go on is the date on the box. The dates to choose from are:
4/18/00
6/16/00
6/20/00
I would like to avoid removing epoxy or replacing ide pins. I also don't have a v2 bios to flash a newer one to.
Would you guys mind posting your dates on the box and what revision they are and/or what was done to hack them.
Thanks in advance!

Same situation!
I have the following dated i-openers [box sealed]:
3/09/2000
4/18/2000
6/26/2000
Can someone help here? Which would be the best choice for hacking?

Easy Hack
If you have a V1 that is easiest as the BIOS does not have to be reflashed to add a HD. The latest shipments seem not to have epoxy on the BIOS. Thus, it is easy to swap with a V1 BIOS from badflash.com.

hmm, that 3/9/00 one seems golden. The initial fiasco didn't go down until mid April. I bet that one is a V1.
Judging by What Easy Hack says, the IO's shipped in June should have no epoxy, so that is the one I will with.
