Looking for i-opener stand / base

New MessageLooking for i-opener stand / base (modified 0 times) irongiant
Hello,

Does anyone have an extra stand-- that is, the plastic "Netpliance" logo that screws into the i-opener back, plus the metal legs that attach to the base? I am trying to make a stand that will fit into a laptop case, by sawing off part of the legs and sticking rubber feet to the stumps. Finally, a couple of rubber bumpers will go on to the bottom of the front display and we have a mobile machine!

Also, I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to saw off or bend the legs, since I hear they are solid metal. I'm going to start with a hacksaw, but am worried about breaking the blade or making crooked cuts.

I'll pay shipping + a reasonable price (about $5.) If you have a good ebay reputation, that would help. If you're interested, please contact me at: djinjeana@netscape.net

I know there are people out there who are using different mounts who don't need this part any more!

Thanks--
Jean

P.S. If you also have an extra PS/2 splitter, I'd be interested in buying it at the same time.

Why don't you just buy the y-splitter at RadioShack or something? I got mine at MicroCenter, but I don't know if there's one out were you live... Only costs $3.

Thanks Monty, but I've already visited two local RadioShacks. The gentlemen there had no idea what PS/2 was, and certainly didn't stock the Y-cables. A lot of places, including radioshack.com, stock this item or its components, but I'm trying to limit the number of different orders to save on shipping. There are no Microcenters nearby: just CompUSA, our jolly pal who's always ready to cut a deal.

I could make my own cables but would like a more professional job than the nasty-looking black-tape or heat-shrink covered cable that I could produce.

Irongiant,
I like your idea so much (was reading it this morning) was thinking about it on the way home from work.
I'm going to rough cut it with a Hacksaw and leave just a tad extra and then grind the rest smooth and neat with a industrial table disk sander at work during lunch. Have to be careful not to get it to hot and discolor the chrome plating, Have a container of coolant nearby.
Perhaps if you do not have access to such a tool.. a sanding pad on a drill motor will work?
