v4/v5 with v1 bios

Hey fellas,
I got a v4/v5 with the torx screws, bios date 3/2000, no goo, and rise 266. I recently hotflashed my bios with a v1 bios dated 10/99. My problem is that I still can't get the i-opener to boot from my HD. In fact it won't even recognize the HD now with the v1 bios. Before it was able to identify it correctly, though it wasn't able to boot. I know my HD is bootable because I booted my pc with it. I'm wondering if it's possible that I have a bad cable, or perhaps the v1 bios is not compatible with the newer versions. Somebody please share their experience with me. Thanks

most likely a bad cable. I plugged my v1 bios into a v4 (i think, lost track of version numbers by now) and it booted perfectly.

Be sure the IDE cable is plugged all the way down on the motherboard. You should not see any gold pins showing when looking from the side. That was my problem on one of my units. As for the V1 working on a V5, it does. No sound from Win98se due to different sound system but I have it running like several other people here have reported.
