Alright, something came unsoldered on my iopener when my dad dropped it. Its located neat the heat sink and it by a little coil of copper wire covered by plastic. Its black and maybe a centimeter tall and looks like its soldered at 2 points... Well 1 point came unsoldered and right now the backlight to my iopener does NOT work. If I solder this back (Which i will when I find someone to do it) so you think it will fix my backlight problem? If not how much do you think it will run to get the backlight repaired and would a local computer shop do it do you think? Ill try to take pictures with my digital cam sometime this week if I get around to it...

Most likely, that will fix the backlight if that's all the damage that occurred when the iopener was dropped. That coil is a component of the backlight's power supply.

Alright, maybe what came unsolded is part of that power suply or something (Im not to sure, im 16, not into electronics much). But the rest of the PC works fine... I mean, it can boot up, I sorta see stuff (no backlight, kinda hard to see). I can hear windows (ugh, I know, I run BeOS on it most of the time :)) start up and shutdown sounds so everything seems to be good cept that backlight... So im praying this will fix it!

As I said; If that is the only damage, then resoldering it should correct the backlight. Fortunately, that part has rather large pads and is more forgiving to heat. It is part of the backlight's power supply.

btw: a mild typo on your picture's address. It should have been: http://www.tcowen.com/sirphreak/iopener.jpg
