The coolest part is if you just buy the cheap (5.90) introductory x10 kit and use your email when you sign up. Then they will send you free coupons at least 4 times a year (spam too). These coupons are usually around 17, so the mouse remote would only be 8 when you use a coupon. And then you can buy other x10 junk later.

Kewl remote, I'm thinkin of getting a 2nd one for my IO. I have one now to control my tv tuner + winamp + realplayer at home. Whatever you do, don't bother installing the software it comes with. Use this software instead: http://max10.sourceforge.net/. Much more versitile then the crapware it comes with IMHO.

Just so you guys know, these remotes don't work on the I-Opener. I've tried and was unsucessful. If you search the forum archives you will see other people who've had no luck as well.

It's a good idea but unfortunately the problem has something to do with the IO not feeding enough power through the PS/2 port. I don't remember if you can plug this into the IO's serial port, I'm not a solder type of guy though.

Use a serial-usb adapter, if the PS/2 doesn't work.

You can bid on them over at http://www.egghead.com - just do an advanced search, auctions and deals, SIIG USB Plus Serial Adapter. They usually go for around $9 + S&H.

I have been using one to control my dedicated MP3 computer (not I-opener) on my stereo system. Works fine (serial port)- only problem is they have no codes/device for controling the stereo receiver - it can do dvd, vcr, tv, my X10 light controls - but there is nothing there to let me turn the stereo on & off. Same company makes remotes that will, and they make 'learning' remotes that could be trained, but I wanted to be able to control the whole thing with one remote!
