Any interest in having some type of a meeting at Comdex (Las Vegas, Nov 13-17)? We can check out the Netpliance booth. I will be there Monday through Wednesday noon. Codeman, are you available for a meeting?

BadFlash: For you it is a business trip. You can write it off on your taxes to offset all the profits from iopener related sales

If there is still interest in K6-3 333MHz chips I could bring some along for sale at cost ($32.50).

I will be arriving Sunday night. Yes, I could be at the Netpliance table around noon on Monday. I will be calling Codeman to see about us meeting for dinner Monday night. Anyone need anything from Fry's? Codeman can you make it at noon too?

I'm trying to get my boss to let me off monday so me and my co-worker can hang out at comdex. I used to live in las vegas. Lonely and ironically boring place.. for a resident that is. Always have to compete with the guy that comes in to vacation with his savings.

Anyways.. let's see if netpliance would let us put out iopeners out at their booth. heheehe.

Call me dense, but I don't even know when comdex is....heh. :) I'm in colorado springs, it's a 6 hour drive from here. I suppose I could swing it. I'd have to find a place to stay though. :\

This sucks!!! It's during the week! What were they thinking????

They were thinking business, silly me. ;)

Dang it. Well, you can all party in the springs if you feel like 5-6 drive while you're out this way. LOL

I will be leaving for Comdex tonight as well. Netpliance has a booth listed at L4423R but I don't see it on the map. I will have "T3" on my name badge and will be around that area at noon tomorrow.

T3? sounds like a terminator thing.

my coworker didn't finish his coding on time so i can't just take off by myself in excuse for expanding my knowledge base for the company (at my cost by the way). gotta wait till wednesday after work when we can leave the earliest. wonder if people would still be around then.

anyways.. check you all later. keep posting so we'll know where everyone is at.

ipaq? you have internet connectivity on that thing or are you hotsyncing it with a desktop?

i have a casseipedia e-11 can sync for mobile channels but can't surf the internet yet.

anyhow, i might head on down there on wednesday night so won't get there to comdex till thursday. how long do you guys plan on staying?

for the best buffet check out "ToDai" but then San Jose had it too.

For a mature wild party check out the Rio Club at Rio Casiono it is huge. Then check out Raj or whatever the nightclub over at that Pyramidial Casino Hotel.

Stay away from the Beach or "nostalgia" something like that. those are kiddies college nightclubs. Rio is a good one for mature people.

Gates is either at the Dessert Inn or the Belagio. Probably Belagio since Desert Inn sold itself to Steve **** (forgot his last name, the guy that owns all of vegas).

If you want a fantastic suana spa and juice, go to Desert Inn Hotel Spa. It's like $40-$50. but they treat you like a king.

I am back from Comdex. The short post I made was from one of the 40 Compaq ipaqs they had available at the MS Pocket PC area. They took groups of 40 people and walked them through using the ipaq. Each had a wireless card installed and Pocket Internet Explorer was fully functional. So I decided to skip part of the walkthru and post a short message on it.

There was no Netpliance booth at the location listed for Netpliance in the Comdex directory. Just four high white walls surrounded the location. I did meet up with one other hacker on Monday (AlainDelon, the one who brought us the Philips USB Speaker audio solution).

Finally did meet up with Codeman on Tuesday. I had read a 2 as a 7 when I entered the area code into my cellphone so it was my error. At the National Semiconductor booth Codeman spotted an iopener so we went to investigate. Next to it were two newer looking iopeners running Windows CE and having both an ethernet port and a CF port on the bottom. There was also one Netpliance employee but he did not have a business card and I don't recall his name. Perhaps he will read this and provide it. I took a bunch of pictures of the new and old iopeners with Codeman and the Netpliance guy. The new one is a reference design and uses the National Geode chip which is why it was at their booth. It was a very nice looking unit with changable color bezels. I will post all the pictures in a day or two.

I stopped by again in the afternoon after Codeman and I split up and met the Netpliance VP of Development. Hopefully some other company will pick up the reference design that was being shown and make it into a product. He did say the motherboard was not by Quanta. Stopped by again on Wednesday and the original iopener had disappeared leaving only the two newer ones.
