I was flipping channels this morning and Home Shopping Network has IO's for sale for $149.85 + 10.95 S&H. They are Item #408-062 and the number is 1-800-284-3100.
They say they are also available via www.hsn.com. Haven't checked out the website, but am under the assumption that there is no TOS.
Just thought I'd give you all a heads up.

Newbie questions here...

I bought the IO today from HSN for $150. Im assuming
its v5, does anyone know?

Is this as easy to hack as the older models? I have
read different postings about this topic.

How do I get around not paying for the service? Do I have
to get the 3 month contract and then cancel? What is
the trick to not pay anything?

Which is the best website for step by step instructions to
doing the bios change and adding the harddrive?

This is for my father in law (72 years old) and decided to
go with this over the epod because of the bigger screen.

Thanks, Teksavy

i assume unless they tell you that the iopener comes with a tos, then there isn't a tos. how can anyone charge you for something after you've purchased something else?

so i'm assuming that the iopener comes without a tos.

They have it if you call the 800 number, but it isn't offered on the website now. On the phone you pay tax.

The i-open'rs on HSN do not include TOS, The only way to purchase them is on the telephone. As of 12-19 they were still selling them, The one I ordered last week came in yesterday and it's the V5 in a "i-Opener 2001 Membership Pak".

Regarding TOS, the internet service for the HSN ones is arranged through ATT-Worldnet, not the folks at Netappliance.

Question - can these be configured to use a current WorldNet account without DOC
modifications? How?

What is easist way to use these with current WorldNet account

Unfortunately cannot put WorldNet info into Webplayer setup screens because the set up screens do not accept Worldnet's 16 digit password.

Thanks in advance,
Geno

I also purchased one, and it came yesterday. Took it apart to find NO goo and NO clipped pins. I can't find anything that says I have to use their service.
