Need to know 98 & linux drivers for hardware

I just got the winning bid on an I-Opener that has been hacked but needs a HD. Initially I plan on installing 98, but will play with Linux in the future.

My question:
Obviously I need to format a HD, copy the OS cab files, and the HW drivers. What HW drivers should I copy that will allow 98 to work with the HW? Same for Linux.
