wireless raylink/buslink pcmcia usb network problem
Cant get raylink/buslink wireless network to perform

Here is what I have:
win98se v1 io
raylink/buslink PCMCIA USB wireless network adaptor

Works great with other systems, but not iopener. It crashes often for no reason, but especially when I transfer files to iopener from iopener.

I suspect IRQ conflict as problem, but not sure. This sounds similar to other folks problems with their usb network adaptor.

Any suggestions? no flames please, I have read other threads.

More info:
I have set hard drive controller to primary. And I have disable assign irq to video and usb in bios. I have installed all the win98 and via fixes (no 4 in 1 yet)from http://www.buslink.com/bios.htm. Nothing has helped. I have uninstalled devices and rebooted and let it find everything again, still no luck. Another symptom is VERY SLOW access to network. I hooked the raylink up to another laptop (in place of the io) and it worked great!

I wonder if I can resolve the video and usb sharing the same ip if that would help?

try forcing the irq that is being shared to a legacy device. I have 14 and 15 forced legacy (this prevents the (broken) bios from setting anything else PCI (including USB) to that IRQ.

Programmer,

I have tried to do so in the device manager to no avail. In the bios, I have seen the are where irq's are assigned. To my reccolection you can only choose Primary, Secondary or Disabled. I have tried Disabled on Video and USB. Am I in the wrong area? Thanks for your help, looking forward to your answer as I am desperate!

OK, i found how to change the irqs to legacy. However, every time I change an irq to legacy, it changes both my usb and video to the same irq. I tried disabling video, usb seperatlely and together, and cant seem to get them on different irq's..

Help!!!!

NOTE: set Reset Config data (or whatever it is) to Yes with every step

Try marking ALL IRQs to legacy Except 15
This should make USB share with IDE and force everything else to be screwed up.

Mark 14 as PCI/PNP

Mark 10 as PCI/PNP

Mark 5 as PCI/PNP

Mark 7 as PCI/PNP

By now everything except the usb and Primary IDE should be on their own IRQs

Mark 11 as PCI/PNP and 15 as legacy

this should drop the USB onto 11 and noone cares about 15 since you cant REALLY change it anyway
