Anybody know if IOpener's can be got in the UK?

If it had to come from the US what modifications would be needed?

O)The same modifications listed here on the board. I wouldn't imagine that Netpliance would be so courteous as to pre-hack your Iopener for you!

The bare minimum that you'll need is the bios hack, coupled with some QNX hacking or a hard disk and OS.

The rest is up to you.

The I-O comes with a 19V power supply that plugs into the wall. Probably all you need is a plug adapter. Switching power supplies are pretty forgiving and usually run on 50Hz. Worst case you would need to find a 50Hz 19V switching regulator that will put out the needed 35 or so watts and splice the connector.

Hi there Jim

May I ask how you got hold of yours, I am finding it difficult to find a company that will ship to the UK, people like Amazon will not ship electronics outside of the US

Do not take life too seriously; you will never get out of it alive.

dogbert,

I got the iO through my company; the old Director went to a ComputerCity in San Francisco and brought one back because it was so cheap (yah...$199 to buy, $400 to ship next day, early delivery, via FedEx. I wanna be a management idiot too!).

Once they relaized that it wouldnt' work here, they were going to put it in the back and forget about it...so I bought it from them for $50.

Other than that (bringing it over directly), I have not idea how to get one over here. There must be some kind of mail-relay service that can redirect parcels overseas for a price.

Maybe a Mailboxes USA? They also operate as a postal delivery stop as well as a shipper...
