Question: Does anybody in here has any knowledge or experience with the new lowered power CPU from Transmeta or Intel New lowered power processors. I know that transmeta requires special bios for the processor and it is configured for the socket 7 mother board, also with information the latest Intel lowered power CPU speedstepping technology designed solely for notebook computer. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas wether it is viable to upgrade the I-O CPU. If you have any knowledge or experience, please don't hestitate to share it with the world.

Hi Spotie,
I don't believe the transmeta chips are Socket 7 compatible (that is they may be Pentium compatible in terms on instruction set, but I don't believe they are Socket 7 or varient compatable).
The AMD K6 III+ (not the K6 III, the III+) is really a super chip and likely be a better solution than a Transmeta chip anyway. Is there some reason you are adverse to the AMD?
Regards

I have nothing against the AMD K-6 CPU. It's just that I'm using Win 2000 and i've read some where before that AMD K-6 will not support the OS. Also due to dual voltage requirement, i thought maybe the new lower power Pentium (design for laptop) & Transmeta CPU will do the job. As for the Transmeta Socket 7 support, i saw this info. on the transmeta/cisco webpage that they producing socket 7 cpu. If you have any knowledge about this, please don't hestitate to let me know...
