in need of a strange part - Turbo3?

a friend of mine somehow messed up his i-opener and needs a new part. here is the scenario: his i-opener boots up fine (to a hard drive running windows 98), but the screen is always black. if he hold a flashlight up to the back, he can see the OS running, etc. he replaced the bulb with a new one from digikey but it didnt help. he is pretty sure there is no power from the cathode (?) to the bulb. apparently there is a transformer in there somewhere that he thinks is bad. (sorry if the description is poor, it is second hand and cathodes and transformers are a bit over my head). anyway, if anybody has a dead motherboard (or perhaps one that they ripped apart for other hacking reasons - Turbo3?) and would be willing to part with it, i am sure he would be forever greatful. post here or email me at brian250 at hotmail dot com so we can work something out (in otherwords, let me know how much you want for it).

thanks, you will be making the poor guy very happy as his i-opener is just sitting there mocking him as we speak.

If after you tracke everything down and ensure that it is indeed the transformer, I have one.. let me know.. (chances are it's not) you'll need a multimeter to find out.

There may be an inverter driving the light... they've been known to go.
