RS-232 board status
where are they?

If you ordered a bare board and nothing else, you should have received a shipping notice today. If you ordered it with an IMOD3, a cable pack, or a assembled board it is held up waitng for those.

Murphy has worked hard on this project and we aren't going to ship these with any loose ends. The first batch of bare boards was lost in shipment, and it turns out the RS-232 cables I got were the wrong pin-out, so I am waiting for the right ones. We also ran out of some key parts needed for the assembled boards, this the delay there.

With any luck at all these things should start shipping next week. I also scored on the Max chips, so I will be able to sell them for $10 each as soon as I get them posted on my website.

Anyone that want to write and ask status, feel free, but this is it. I'll update this thread as I know something more.

Assembled boards/cables are inbound at this time. I expect to have them in-hand and tested and start shipping by mid-week. For those of you who need MAX chips I will have these up on my site by the weekend for $10 each.

Little tough for me to test something I don't have. I've got two strikes. No V5 and no RS-232 boards except for the Prototype. The audio amp on the RS-232 is a general purpose amp. If anyone has traced out the V5 audio lines, it is just a matter of hooking up to the same function. I can't do the research until I score another V5.

There are plenty of real smart folk out there on this BBS. Anyone traced the audio in the V5?

Looks to be the ticket. r_fl_z, when you get a chance can you check this out? Lots of folks waiting on the sidelines for this. I'd like to clear out the road block on this (not that you don't have anything else to do...)

This Thread, 8th Post (First one by Turbo3)
This is the same thread posted by BadFlash above.

I tried to identifiy the Componets that Turbo3 is talking about.
There is a silk screened map on the printed curcuit board, But I can't make sense of it.
a color picture would Help. (Not that I am complaining. Thanks Turbo3 for ALL You Have Done)

Maybe Brian's Work with the Yamaha (not V5) could help, (Picture 3) He shows R167 location
I am still trying to digest it ALL ! (& here's the Thread he posted to) Very Detailed.
I am Wondering how this Compares to The other Yamaha TL082 OpAmp Curcuit
from ButtonPuncher? (& that thread )

I did manage to solder right to the Output pins of the V5 sound chip (Different OutPuts, LNLVL Out)
I used a Microscope & just 3 strands of the smallest wire I could find. Wire wrap wire was too big.
But I haven't Tested it Yet. I have too many I-Openers guess I Need to ReOpen 1.

Checking out the v5 IS on my to-do list. Kicking this serial board loose has been a challenge, what with lost shipments, parts shortages, cabling problems, and misc. other delays. It seems like Murphy has bitten us at every turn. The good news is the completed boards are finally in route via FedEX, and Jack will have them in hand next week. We went through quite a component shortage issue, resulting from the very specific parts requirements to make this board fit within the iO, and still allow the chips to be socketed. This required extreemely low profile dip sockets which, it turns out, are somewhat rare...especially in the quantity needed to support the boards.

Thanks for the patience of all who are on the waiting list. Your understanding is much appreciated.

How much demand is there for brand new v2001 i-openers? I can get thousands (literally) of them.
Only problem is, I have to take them all.
What do I do?
/tech or trash?
/tech - of course!

I ordered an IMOD3, RS232 bare board, and RS232 cables.

it seems that you are still waiting for the cables, but my question is: Do you have *my* IMOD3 and RS232 bare board somewhere, and are waiting for the cables so you can have my entire order shipped as soon as the cables come in?

Or (and I really hope this isn't the case) are you waiting to fill my multi-part order (all at once) at a time when you have a supply of all three parts in your hand?

I am shipping the RS-232 boards now. If you ordered an IMOD3 there will be a delay of about 1 week until Codeman gets me more of those in. When I get to your shipment (I plan to have the backlog cleared out by this weekend) I will send folks an E-Mail giving them the option to cancel the IMOD3, hold delivery until it comes in, or pay (choke) for a separate shipment later when the IMOD3's come in.

Please hang in there. I'm moving as fast as I can on this.

so let me get this straight. you have rs232 cables *in* and rs232 bare boards *in* right now, but no IMOD3's correct? If this is correct I would like to change my order.

Instead of the IMOD3, I'd want:
USB Kit - $17
dip switch - 4
.012 ohm resistor - 5
.13 ohm resistor. - 4
----
$30

Your price on these components totals to $30 and the IMOD3 is priced at $31. I'll eat the buck. Let me know if this is possible based on your current stock of product. You must be making a killing on the SMT parts, but I can't get them anywhere else.

All RS-232 orders have been processed and you should have received an E-Mail notification saying when the package will ship or has shipped. Due to back-orders on IMOD3's if you ordered RS-232 baord with an IMOD3 I sent an E_MAIL to you with your options. Check the E-Mail you supplied with your order.

If you ordered and did not get an E-Mail, send me an E-Mail along with your order number so I can track it down. Also be sure the E-Mail address you supply is correct. You would not beleive how many people can't type in their own E-Mail address, or have reply addresses that don't work. I reply to ALL E-Mail questions within 24 hours, usually much less than that. If you don't hear from me check your return address and send me another E-Mail with your correct E-Mail address typed into the message body so I can reach you.

If you want to change any order E-Mail me directly at jack@badflash.com, don't post it here.
