What are these used for? (Things on motherboard)
Uh... what do these things do?

Ok, I did a search first so please don't yell too much if this stuff is already explained on the board somewhere. I just noticed that there's a small black button right above the paralell port on my IOpener (on the board) and I was curious what it's purpose was.

Also, if I'm looking at the board from above with the CPU in the upper right corner, there's a really small bank of DIP switches to the right of my memory slot--is this the fabled voltage adjustment? I notice there's an empty patch a little farther to the right that looks like it would accept some switches similar to what I've seen in photos.

Oh, and one final question--when I received my IOpener, I opened (sorry about that) it up and noticed that the memory slot was damaged. The two plastic arms that hold the card paralell to the motherboard are broken off so the memory will fit into it's slot, but it will stick up at about a 30 degree angle. I tested the machine when I first got it and the Netpliance logo came up. I know this is basically a PC and I know PCs don't even get that far if you don't have the RAM installed. Does this mean my angled memory is making contact, or should I look into holding it down?

--oh, I'd also like to say that popping the BIOS out was a lot easier than it sounded!

Hopefully my new one will arrive soon.

The black button is a reset. If your machine locks up to a point where ctrl-alt-del won't reboot you, the reset does a hard cold boot.

Oh, cool, thanks. I just noticed the pinhole on the RF shield and the outer case that line up with the reset button. Jeers to me for not noticing that first.
