Can anyone tell me if the LCD on the Iopener can be used as a stand alone monitor? I want to connect the LCD to a PC. I need to know if you can connect a HD15 connector to the LCD cable. Will a PC drive the LCD monitor with the cable modification?
Thanks

This was My Thought when I first saw the I-Opener around a year ago.
Back then when I Surfed to http://www.flat-panel.com/iopener.htm
I learned You Needed a Digital Signal to Drive a LCD (back then around $200)
LCD Monitors You See that plug into a HD15 connector, have this Built in.
But with 15" LCD Monitors down to $500.
The Video Cards with Digital Output have to Drop in Price.
I saw a RADEON™ VE Dual Output Analog / Digital http://www.ati.com/na/pages/products/pc/radeon_ve/index.html
Monitor Support
CRT Monitor: 15 pin VGA connector
S-Video or composite connector
DVI-I (flat panel display) connector
(I-Opener still would Not Just plug right in.) I don't know about an adaptor ?
You could Try Search ! there are alot of short threads asking this.
"VNC" is a Software Solution
I have been Dreaming of a 18" LCD I saw 1 with Monitor in a Monitor (picture in a picture)

See www.flat-panel.com for enough info to discourage this idea. You can buy a $349 package that includes VGA-to-LCD signal converter AND a 12.1" LCD that's brighter and sharper than the 10" i-o.
The cheapest converter-alone in their catalog is $200. Add $125 for the i-o you're cannibalizing and you're saving $25 to get a very cruddy flat panel.

If you have a video card that has a dfp connector (ATI Radeon) you can make an adapter that will work.. the lcd that comes with the IO has essentially the right signal layout.

Honestly the screen on the I/O is trash for any other purpose. It is a DSTN LCD that can't display full motion vdeo witout the screen becomming a blurr and completely unledgeable. There are a few of us interested in swapping out the screen for a TFT type LCD screen that would make a huge difference in useability and moving picture quality. Static images are fine but motion video is a definate no-no. What will you use the I/O display for, if you are able to do what you are asking ?
