IO hackers in Seattle area get-together?

I just got into Seattle tonight and will be here till 4/10 for business. I think there are a few IO hackers in the area, but don't know the exact number.

I have a proposal. Would Puget Sound hackers be interested in getting together one night before I leave for an informal get to know eachother (and bring their IOs)? Say at a pizza shack or some other place that could accomodate however many people respond to this thread?

As for a date and time, I'm open, but I figure it would be easier for people to take an hour or two to get together if it were on a weekend (a Saturday?). Also, it doesn't have to start late (like around 8pm), instead it could start while there's still daylight--say 4pm?

If I were to suggest a place right off the top of my head, I'd say the Round Table Pizza near Sears near 148th Ave NE. but that is far from set in stone--besides it would be nice to have some place that had power outlets so the IOs could be powered up (unless everybody has a battery solution and isn't sharing .

What times/dates/location would work best for people?

Kevin

Has this get together already happened? Please post date and time if this is still happening. Thanks.

There wasn't much of an interest, so nothing has happened yet. Perhaps I should give a firmer time, date and agenda.

I'm going to check with my company and see if it's possible to use a conference room Saturday April 7th around 3pm or so. That way people could plug in their IOpeners, should they choose to bring them. So check back for updates.

Also, this meeting isn't just for "experienced" IOpener hackers. Actually, I was hoping that there may be far more lurkers who frequent this board that might show up. That way they could take a look at a real IOpener (since I would be bringing mine) and decide if 1)they're interested in getting one and 2)if they feel up to hacking it themselves. If they don't then they might be able to network with more experienced hackers willing to share their knowledge and time.

If I am able to get the conference room, I could give a small "tutorial" on the IOpener, covering basic things like:
Getting past the Torx security screws
Reflashing the BIOS/adding one from Badflash
Connecting a 2.5" 12.5mm (or smaller) laptop HD with the "flipped" cable

to more advanced things like:
Turning the 16 MB Sandisk into a bootable drive (optionally with Win98Lite)
Networking the IOpener through:
the parallel port (e.g. a Direct Cable Connection on Windows)
a USB->Ethernet adapter
a wireless USB->Ethernet adapter (I use an Intel Wireless USB Anypoint adapter because I haven't been able to find an 802.11b wireless USB adapter)

Modding the stock 266 MHz Rise CPU to:
a 200 MHz Pentium (because it has 16 KB L2 cache RAM and the Rise has none!)
a 450 MHz AMD K6-3+ 450 MHz (because this is the best CPU upgrade)

Adding r_fl_z's serial mod to enable the second COM port
Adding the second USB port mod

And, I may be able to demo a touchscreen modded IOpener (but that's not a commitment!)

Kevin

Kevin I'd be real interested in attending. I have a V4 with a Badflash bios, Toshiba 9mm hdd and a mod2 kit. Never have been able to get past the boot failure thing and so would like to meet more experience hackers. Thanks.
