midori (linux-dist) for i-opener?
Has someone a midori install for the 16MB sandisk?

I wonder since jailbait.sourceforge.net is kind of outdated with 2.4.0-test1 (USB/Ethernet driver unstable) if someone considered to use Midori distribution and create a 16MB disk-image fitting into the IO?

Don't know if it was you, but someone else is thinking the same thing on the Midori-discuss list...

But one of the Project admins, Daniel Quinlan, said "We used DiskOnChip 2000 in our really early development (before Midori, really), but have since dropped it for CompactFlash (IDE), which is much easier to use. You will need a special version of LILO to boot (plilo) and a different block device driver."

But, I'm thinking of the same thing. Did you have any luck?

Well, here's what I've found...

http://tengu.homeip.net/midori/ has a test image that has

  • Linux 2.4.3-midori
  • Netscape Communicator 4.78 (with Shockwave Flash 4(TM), but without Java(TM)-support)
  • busybox-0.47
  • xmms 1.0.3

And Here's the ChangeLog so far...
    2001-07-25 0.91 is out

    Changes:

  • now optimized for Pentium-class processors (0.9 was optimized for K6-II)
  • now supports all Linux-supported USB- and parallel-port Ethernet-cards
  • no boot-messages for faster startup-time

There's still some 4 MB of free space left on the flash-device, so there's still plenty of room for more applications. Suggestions are welcome :).

    2001-08-01 0.92 is out

    Changes:

  • new executables: vncviewer, traceroute
  • now includes Netscape Communicator 4.78 (with Mail and News)
  • master volume now set to 100%
  • you can now save your Netscape-preferences with "store configuration". Most usefull if you configure your mail- and newsserver :)
  • still no ppp :)

    2001-08-05 0.93 is out

    Changes:

  • new executable: micq
  • added micq and vncviewer to "Linux"-Menu
  • new item "Sound Configuration" in config
  • vncviewer 3.3.3r2
  • micq 0.47
  • NFS-support for your favourite mp3s :)
  • pump dhcp-client
  • Web-based configuration interface

If you check back in this list, or perhaps the Technical Stuff list, you'll find that an IOpener Midori port has been available for awhile.

Here is the relevant thread (watch the wrap):
