Has anyone gotten BeOS working on a v5? Mine and some other peoples' just give a panic mount message.

I've been thinking about buying BeOS 5 Pro to try on my IO. Be seems to be faster and sure looks cool from the pictures I've seen. Glad to hear about the Be/IO conflict before I invested in the OS. At this time I have Win98 on my v3 with zero problems (Other than the usual Win98
problems!).

i haven't tried it on my io, but i had 5 installed in my pc, and I am very impressed. 10 min. install, quick boot, and no driver probs. you can make beos5 personal edition into a full ver by installing as normal, then nuking your existing partitions and replacing them with BEFS partitions and reinstalling the os from within the os.

I want to give Be a fair chance so I'll do a normal install the first time. Think I'll look on Ebay for a used BeOS 5 Pro CDROM.

OK I got it working now. When the Be screen first comes up with the 7 little device icons, hold down the spacebar. Select save mode options, then select "Disable IDE DMA" or something similar. Return to the boot process and Be will boot flawlessly.

Apparently, you have to do this every time. Anybody know a way around that?
