I'm revising my earlier request. Slight paraphrase follows:

Ok, this is a very strange request, I realize. I'm looking for an UNHACKED, UNMODIFIED (preferably new in box) i-opener which was sold by Home Shopping Network and was designed to work with AT&T rather than Netpliance/Earthlink.

Bottom line: I'm going to set this up for an elderly friend who wants to have an i-opener like his neighbor. The Home Shopping Network units work with the AT&T ISP which is local to him; strangely, there is no local Earthlink service in his area, so non-HSN units will not work for him.

If anyone has an unmodified, unhacked Home Shopping Network i-opener, let me know. I'm also willing to trade it for a different version 5 unit that didn't come from HSN, for that matter -- whatever deal works for you. If you've got one, please send me an email:

rand@newsguy.com

Thanks!

Randy

Good luck!

I wouldn't part with a V3 I-Opener right now, selling an unopened V5? It'd be interesting to discover if any exist and what the asking price is.

Have you considered the Gateway applicance currently being discussed? Also you may have better luck asking someone to post a binary image of one of the home shopping network I appliances (from the SanDisk perhaps in a format suitable for Dolly). Dollying an image of the SanDisk could likely allow a wider universe of I-Openers to be available

I just love "JustMe."

Actually, a mint Dolly image of the Sandisk from the Home Shopping Network i-opener would work just great for me and would solve the problem. Can anyone assist?

I have one HSN I-Opener left that I disabled the Sansdisk in order to enable the cdrom, I never messed with the QNX on it and it has never even booted as far as I know. I will see if I can get it enabled this weekend as I planned to install switches to turn it off and on anyhow.

The only question I have is, How do I use Dolly to create the image (I am not a QNX/Linux guy)? I don't want to trade IO's but if I can make a image I will to so.

Dolly is in dos/windows, so no problem for you there. You need to enable the sandisk, and have it boot so that the sandisk is accepted by the bios. Then open a command prompt, and go to the directory dolly is in. Type "dolly hd129: sandisk_v5_hsn". hd129: is the identifier for the second drive in the bios, and sandisk_v5_hsn is the file you want to save the image as.

You can get dolly from our favorite freedrive account, or try searching google or download.com (I got it from freedrive).

I tried enableing the Sansdosk on my IO that had the full "HSN" QNX on it, but I am unable to get it right now, the two pins that were lifted broke off at the chip, I don't believe I can get a good connection as they are just too small.

I will keep tring, but it doesn't look very promising.....
