I got one last week too. Currently fooling around with it in an ASUS TX-97 motherboard with the 0112 BIOS for lower VCore. Runs stable at 6.0x83=500. (The TX97 doesn't have 100 FSB)

Any TX-97 owners who also have a K6-2-450+, can you verify the temperatures I'm seeing in BIOS? It seems the 0112 BIOS is very confused and overreports the CPU temperature. (e.g. "57C on powerup" - yank chip out, it's nice and cool. "71C under load", yank chip out, it's only slightly warm to the touch. 71C can bite my shiny silicon ass.)

(Sorry for the OT stuff, but I have yet to get around to fooling around with this chip in my IO

Yes, this is *still* true. I just received the K6-2+ from Tigerdirect for 34.99.

Their site has a part number with the letter P, but the part you receive is not the K6-2P, but rather a K6-2+ or to be really specific AMD-K6-2+/450ACZ.

The top on my chip appears to be perfectly flat - no "dimple" as described elsewhere. Date code? A D038BPMW.

There's a good joke here too. I have an older K6-2+/450ACR. Both are copyright 1999 and both say assembled in Malaysia, but one has a Microsoft logo that says made for Win95, and the other says made for win 98! Now which one was it really made for?!?

Use the link at the top of this thread then in the "Product Index" on the left side select "Processors (CPUs) then under catagories select "AMD".
