Any of you lucky stiffs with cable/DSL have a spare functional IO modem you'd be willing to part with? I think mine got spiked during a recent thunderstorm; won't pick up anymore. I had to canibalize a second machine to get back online, but now that machine has no modem (arggh!)
Damn if I didn't get another surge tonight that toasted my second modem! NOW I really need one. Could be the Almighty saying that it's time to move up to DSL, if only it were offered in my neighborhood. If you've got a modem for a needy colleague, please let me know.
Before you install your next modem....
An inline phone line surge protector may help.
Your i-Opener mainboard might get fried next if a surge protector is not used.
