need help

I bought an Ebay opener.

Came to me packagaged ok, but the heatsink was not screwed on.
There is a cap beneath the S of the "Socket7"
Maybe C166, it is next to Q16, had come undone. I soldered it back on.

Long story short...
No video
Green power light = yes
reseat memory, chip, cmos battery.
I also shorted the CMOS battery.

Also, between c139 and RN15 (between the video chip and modem) there is a chip that looks like it was taken off.

I have pressed the reset key, and kept it down during a boot.

I think this is a v3 (goop, good ide headers)

Is there anything I can do to see what is going wrong?
The WinChip is getting hot, C277, C248 are both getting power, C166, C147 also are getting power.
Seems like the video chip isn't doing anything.

I can't get the idiot Ebay seller to tell me what they did.

Hard to tell what's wrong.....try this. After the I-Opener starts up, the green lite stays on? If it does that, hold down the power button at least 10 seconds till the lite goes out. Then hit the power button again...many I-Openers will start this way.

Hey...did you check the voltage on "F1" (Fuse 1) and how about the 2 wire power leads to the display...maybe the display is bad?

Unless you really know what you are doing I would advise against "checking" the "power leads to the display". They are actually the power to the LCD display backlight and are high voltage. I don't know the exact voltage on these leads but the spec sheet for the display calls for a typical voltage of 550v.

Electronics run on smoke, if you let the smoke out they won't work
