I have a 10Gig 2.5" HDDlying, around as well as a USB Ethernet so I decided to buy a I-opener and hack it, just for the kicks. Is the newer versions completely non-hackable or just a pain in the ass for hacking?

SF is right. A V5 bios is a must. Then a modified ide cable. After that, just follow the V5 hack described in the moderated technical section. Just did a 2001 I-opener hack myself. It's the third hack I have done and it is much easier than doing a V1,V2, or V3. It took me every bit of 15 minutes to do it. The only thing I would tell you to do is take special care is to gently, ever so gently pry out the bios chip. Do it a little bit at a time, working from all four corners. Do not use the socket as a lever. Happy hacking!
