Is this a sign that the IO was truly ahead of its time or an indication of its reliable and sturdy construction? I believe I spotted an IO in the engineering section on "Enterprise" last night!
(everyone loves star trek right)

Hi,
Looked at the episode just now (have freeze frame on a new Panasonic DVD recorder) and it isn't an I-Opener (screen is too big, on the 2nd shot where Hoshi is looking dead on at the screen you can see it has no vol or power switch on the bottom). Also a flat panel wide screen is in Archers room/office in the next shot also not an I-Opener. Scene 1 is in Engineering where 1st officer and communications officer are looking at intercepted/encrypted vulcan transmission, 2nd scene is in Archers office/cabin/room where Archer authorizes decription of the same. Hope that helps!

BTW Ability to freeze frame, rewind, and look closely at scenes while continuing to record rules, long live DVD RAM!

I remember the scenes you are talkin about. There is another scene where Archer comes to engineering and trip is showing him something on a screen right beside the "reactor core" Then they move on to another screen which is bigger and has buttons all around it. If you can check it out again and lmk. :)

I didn't catch it, but I'll look at it again... however on editing out commercials I wound up with 44 minutes and 2 seconds(my guess is the 2 seconds are due to my own error) total time from start to very end (inclusive of theme and all closing credits) as the length for the episode... that's one heck of a lot of commercials.

Regards

If you pay attention to alot of the premium channel series (HBO,SHO),
you'll find that they're always about 40 minutes, almost guaranteeing that they
are targetted for eventual syndication on broadcast TV, Stargate being
a prime example. The previous seasons are already running on TV while the
"new" season is airing on SHO.

Totally off topic, but does anyone know what happened to the Total Recall
series on SHO? It only appeared to last one season. I kindof liked it; it
was edgier than most series, and had a good deal of futurism in it, if you
think about how big some corporate conglomerates are getting, and how powerless
the government appears to be in dealing with them.

Believe it or not, it's showing in Australia ... visit http://www.swd.net.au/cgi-bin/geos/episodes.cgi/index/tot

Personally I liked the "concept" but the writing left a lot to be desired, very uneven and not well focused (more like say post season 1 EFC, a great idea(s) unfocused and poorly written/managed, also if you are older there was a martian invasion series which suffered similarly, season 1 was interesting, 2 was well... yuk). I got the feeling watching Total Recall 2070 that episode to episode the writers/directors didn't know/care much about what happened elsewhere or where the series was going... also lets face it... a robocob/android cop reporting to an unknown source, trusted? also able to inquire as to the source?? The purpose of this always seemed odd to me.

I wonder, can we petition/offer Enterprise an I-Opener? It'd be nice if it was somehow "hacked" into the next century or so (I mean after all the cash I've sunk into mine, I expect them to hang around for some time).
