What one to buy

Hello, very new to this whole thing, Was planning on getting a 3 com aubrey, but found that the i opener might be a better thing. I would like to know what version would be the best to get, there are several on ebay and they list the dates of 2000/08/24, 2000/08/29, and a couple of others that do not list the date. I am wondering if all of them are capable of faster processor, installation of a hard drive, and able to use external speakers. I am planning on using the device to put into my kitchen to check email, weather, stocks, and have a calender, and be able to use it to play mp3's throughout the house. I understand that the audrey is capable of doing this, but as it lacks the hard drive, the applications are limited. Any suggestions are appreciated, and I am sorry if this is a repeat post

Thanks
Dave

The answer to your question depends entirely on your level of experience in hacking, your ability to solder small parts, your knowledge of electronics, etc. Some I-Opener versions are easier to upgrade the CPU....but is's hard to tell your version by the pro. date. Generally, the later dates are better for this, (V4, V4b, V5). You have to see the board to tell for sure. All versions except the V1 will require a BIOS upgrade to boot a hard drive......try using the search feature of this BBS for your questions.
