I made my own cables. I used a vise to compress the IDE connectors onto the ribbon cable. Jaw rough surface was covered with wood tonge depressors to protect the IDE connectors from damage.
Another tonge depressor was used with double back sticky tape to hold the split flipped wire arraignment in place until connector was crimped in place.
A local cable & wire company gave me bout 36" of 2mm pitch ribbon cable. The dude said it was not worth writing up a sales ticket for such a short length. I already had the IDE connectors. (Walk in cust, Thanks Advanced cable in Bellevue!)
If you try and make you own, allow for trial and error learning curve...order extra connectors!
