Large HD's in I-Opener

Though I just recently got back on this bbs, I've been watching it for a good good while. I'm finally hacking into an i-opener and had a question before getting a new hd for it.
The big question that I have yet to see any documented success on, is the use of these large new drives that you can get dirt cheap (i.e. 20-40gb under $100 - and yes, I'm talking notebook drives) I understand the necessary physical specs, and have spoken to numerous travelstar 8-10gb users with absolute success, just haven't seen any documentation on these larger (obviously EIDE/UDMA/etc/etc) drives.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

PLEASE tell me where you found a laptop hard disk 40GB for under $150! I've looked at PriceWatch (usually lists the lowest prices you can find) and the lowest 40G is $150. The lowest 30G is 145.
I'm pretty sure the UDMA 66/100/133 issue isn't a problem, since most drives are backwards compatible. I have a ATA (UDMA) 100 in my desktop which supports only UDMA 66. I've installed my old UDMA 33 drives in computers which don't even support that...

The thing I'd be most concerned about is the BIOS limitation of some older BIOSes to 32GB. My old ASUS P5A (pretty good board at the time) motherboard with an AMD K6-2 350 had the 32GB limit. I was able to find a BETA-ONLY version of the bios that supported bigger drives, thankfully... They never did release an official version though.
I'm pretty sure most brands will supply software (maybe via download) to use these drives in computers which have the limitation, just as they had for >512M drives back long ago. I've always been rather opposed to software hacks like that, myself... But I'm sure they work fine. Infact, my Maxtor 40G drive came with that very software.

Ok, I spoke with badflash and he says he has had up to a 65gb in these babies.

Finatronics: Your right, I had missread one of the ones that I had seen. But even still, 20gb brand new and only 9.5mm in size @ 77$ (pricewatch) is not bad, considering that the older ones are only $10-20 cheaper and half the size (and speed).

Since this question has been so easily answered, I vote we turn this thread into a posting for parts. Namely HD's
