Hi, I'm having problems connecting my 2.5" laptop hard drive into my PC.. I bought the laptop->desktop hd converter, but I can't seem to figure out which way the cable goes. I tried everyway imaginable and it doesn't work. The laptop hard drive is recognized in the I-Opener, but I can't get the PC to recognize it (nor does it sound like it powers up). Thanks in advancee for any help.
Well, first things first. Please don't just plug in the cable in different configurations until it works. Look for either a white arrow or the number 1 on your drive, the adapter and your motherboard. Make sure the red stripe on the IDE cable matches up with the 1 or arrow on both the adapter and the motherboard. The match with the drive.
Secondly, the adapter needs to have a 5V power source when plugged into the desktop PC. They usually have a power plug that you can connect to one of the power supply plugs.
