Wanted: Heat Sink
Heat sink for IO wanted. Will pay.

Does anyone have a heat sink left over from your IO-mod? I am reversing the IO-mod to heat sink only and externalizing the HD so as to minimize noise (totally silent!). I have done one mod and it seems to not overheat. Now I have to revert an old modded IO that I bought.

If anyone has a heat sink that I can have, please email me at tsangchoi at yahoo dot com. I will certainly pay shipping, handling, aluminum recycling fee, gas, wear and tear on your car, etc. Thanks.

Which version do you need? The one with the recess or the one without the recess?

Ragnar1:

I dunno - didn't know there were different kinds. Both of my machines have Rise MP6 233 CPUs. The one heatsink I have was original, and does have a recessed slot that seems to fit the top of the Rise. So I presume I need recessed.

dr-steve:

Thanks. I will email you separately, hope your's is one of the recessed ones.

Thermodynamic Question:

How come the stock heatsink (v5) does not need heatsink compound? Seems to be a pretty dry foam like interface between aluminum and CPU top.

Just wondering.

The Pad is a Thermal Pad, This is the thermal interface of choice for most OEM PC Builders since as long as no debris gets on it, it is just as efficient as thermal grease without the mess..
