Laptop hard drive doesn't detect in i-opener

Sorry if this is redundant, but i looked for a basic thread on this and couldn't find one, although I found lots on hard drives.

I replaced my bios chip with one from badflash (thanks, by the way) and everything comes up fine with the newest version. I have a laptop hard drive that I know functions in a couple of different pcs using an adapter. I cannot, however, make it detect on the i-opener. I've even keyed in cylinder info, and nothing appears to work. The swapped ide cable i'm using is older (since i got all pieces about a year ago and am just getting around to modding it) and it's the only part I can think of that may be causing a problem. Am I missing something? If the drive is in slave mode, nothing detects. If it's in master or cable select mode, the sandisk detects. The drive is set to active, and has win 98 cab files on it. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your input.

in case anyone reads this thread and wants to know the solution, I ordered another ide cable from badflash, plugged it up and everything works fine. Although the cable physically appears fine, I guess it's just not quite right.

I will have to ohm out my cable. I am experiencing an intermittent hard drive detect. Most of the time my systems in my car (I have two systems and they both do the same thing) will detect the hard drive and boot. But every once and a while it will not detect the hard drive. If I disconnect the power it still wont detect. I have to leave it disconnected for at least 15 min or so before turning the system back on then it will detect the hard drive. Any ideas?
