I'm opening up a new thread here because I don't see anybody else has the similar symptoms.

My stock IO went through the BIOS mod and it was working fine. I kept it in the box for 6 months and decided to work on it again. When I power it up with the original power adapter, I see sparks coming off the IO power connector and the LED light on the adaptor went away. Assuming that it could be in a short circuit, I quickly unplugged it.

I used a multimeter to check the voltage on the power adapter, and it reads 19V. I checked and shaked the IO to see if there any loose screws or wires, but don't see anything. I plug it back and getting the same response, and of course the IO doesn't turn on. I removed the memory, CPU and BIOS, and it still shows a short. Are these the same symptoms for those that had the MOSFET problems before?

I'm very lost here. Since I can't even plug in the power, I'm unable to verify the voltages on the on-board components. Any pointers? NEED HELP!!!

Sounds like the infamous Black Screen Of Death.

The BIOS re-writes itself during boot. Unplug it at that time and you're hosed. For more reading pleasure search on the black screen of death.

In the mean time put in a new BIOS chip.

KneuB_2,
Thanks for the advice. I looked up BSOD and it seems like the other guys at least got a green power light and no display. In my case, I don't even get the green light. I even tried to put the original BIOS chip back in and still getting the same response. I think I might have a short on the motherboard somewhere, but don't have a clue where to start looking. Any ideas?
