lasagna question
noise

I have my I-Opener running, but the lasagna fan seems pretty loud. I cut the RF shielding, but now I am wondering about the direction the fan should be blowing. I connected the way shown at tenmax and the result is that the fan is blowing onto the chip. Should it be reversed ?
Thanks!

You have it right. Airflow with these fans is directed towards the CPU.
Some of these fans are very noisy.

On my lasagna fan, I put a resistor in the line to knock the voltage down a bit. I forget what I ended up with voltage-wise.

With some trial and error, it took a lot of the buzz away and the airflow was almost unchanged (per my highly calibrated hand.) My IO is much more pleasant to be around now. No overheats yet. (mod-ed to an AMD chip running at 250 or 300, I forget.)
