I have an old i-opener that we got when it first came out. We only used it a few times, and now I read all about this hacking of it. I would love to get it up and running for one of my kids...if only to use the internet...it would be great!
Does anyone here know of anyone that might want to do it for me..or of anywhere to send and have it done? I am clueless when it comes to anything inside a computer, and I hate to let it just waste away here.
Thanks!

I would consider it provided you ship and purchase all the mods needed.
I have not modified one yet, currently working on mine. But it's pretty much a snap.
And I'm very good working on computers and stuff, I've worked in electronics using surface mount technology (research and development) for years (20).
Let me know if you want to work out the details.

Exactly to what extent do you want to hack your iopener? I have hacked seven iopeners and have done most hacks except for the compact flash mod. The basic hack requires a flashed bios chip, a hard drive cable, and a laptop hard drive. This will get you an operational computer running at 200 mhz. The next favorite hack is to add an amd k6 processor. Then hack it to run at 450 mhz or above. If your kids could be satified with a 200 mhz machine then you will have to buy a chip and cable from Jack at Badflash.com. Anyway, you are looking at an addition cost of ~$100. Still interested?
