I did do a search and found no threads of late about this so I hope I won't get flamed! Please tell me how to describe the external CD-ROM drive I need for my (laptop) iOpener--it obviously either needs to plug into the USB port or the parallel port. I called Microcenter in my town and they said they used to carry them but there is no demand for them. Also, I wonder if I just plug it in and "go" once I find the drive that I need. (I wrote badflash but thought I would check in just to say hi to CKBONE. Where are all the other guys from last year who helped me so much?)"With an open mind, you will be open hearted."

RE:AOL failed and I need to reload it (modified 0 times)
CadetPC,
You will need a usb cdrom. Once you have it and know the manufactor and the model number you could locate the driver using a google search. Then load the driver and plug in the cdrom in the usb port and hopefully away you go. The only problem is I don't know if I installed 98se onto your computer. 98 does not have the drivers necessary for the usb port. 98se does. And I don't remember installing the 4in1 drivers that 98 need to use the usb port. You will have to look and see. You can check by going to "control panel", click on "System" and scroll down to the last line and see if the usb function is flagged with a yellow exclamation mark. If its clear, then the drivers for the usb port are loaded. Let me know what the System says about your usb function and we can go from there.
