VGA out?

Well...I think it might be time for me to get an iopener. I am making a digital picture frame with a 12.1" LCD I have already, and I need a small computer to power it. I have heard a little bit about a VGA out on an iopener...do they have it? It doesnt come with one already does it? Would it involve soldering, or is there a header inside somewhere for this?

Yes it can be done. I belive it has been done. BUt this is only for a 15 pin VGA port. No DVI. And you won't be able to change the LCD because there is no room for the analog to digital converter.

The LCD I have has VGA input...so it will be perfect. . Does it have a header for this, or do I have to solder? Are there any missing parts?

zmoz:
the svga out header is cn1, about 3/4 inch above the trident display controller. no soldering required.

the pin-out is i-o svga
1 red 1
2 n/c
3 green 2
4 n/c
5 blue 3
6 n/c
7 horizontal sync 13
8 n/c
9 vertical sync 14
10 ground 5,6,7,8,10

if you are running windows, be sure to change the display type in control panel/display

i am using the color svga tft display from the airport internet terminal from fusion microsystem as described in the thread in 'breaking news'. a svga crt display can also be used. the i-o's dstn display can be used at the same time as the svga out.

have fun,

oldman

Perfect! Is the header so that I could use an old IDE ribbon cable to make the connection?

The one that says "For RS-232 or VGA mods"? Will that just be a ribbon cable that connects the the VGA out header, and gives me wires to hook a VGA connector to?

Yes and a foot of the cable below the connector as it smaller than
standard ribbon.
Any questions you can always e-mail Jack at Badflash.
