Use I-Opener as secondary display w/ VNC and video card's second display?

My Geforce card has a 'dual monitor' feature, could I start VNC (or simular program) on the second display and have the output displayed on an Iopener across the network? Making it basically a second monitor?

Yes you can...I have done that with one of my webplayers.

Since VNC is free this will be trivially easy to try/test. There are a couple of other considerations:
1. Assuming your io is networked via the usb, it is relatively slow as this is a bottleneck, as is the CPU
2. The io is of course an 800x600 display

So it depends on what you expect to be doing from the Iopener as to whether it succeeds as a "second monitor" for your purpose(s).

Thanks for the replies!

I haven't hacked my IO yet, I thought it might be a good use for it once hacked.

Even 640x480 would be cool, I just want an LCD monitor, and to finally have a reason to hack my IO other than 'it's there'.

I'll probably play with VNC later and see how it works, using my brother's PC as a second monitor.

You can get a 10mbs network adapter for your IO, I beleive usb is 12mbs...so you can get the full speed on that. 10mbs is not bad at all with VNC. I was using my webplayer with a 1.6mbs wireless adapter...although quite slow, its still quite usable. It's also really cool to have a wireless monitor . Its great to take with me somewhere in the house to keep an eye on the computer...if I'm downloading something big or encoding a movie or something, I know what's going on....

Yeah, I sure didn't intend to be negative about VNC. I use it absolutely everywhere. My IO is my email machine, and it's running VNC Server all the time, so I can access it from other PCs and check email on it. The 8x6 screen fits nicely into my other <mostly> 1024x768 screens. I do use VNC Viewer also on my IO to conveniently access other PCs such as one in my basement.

For "cool" factor, run VNC on your handheld (a WinCE Casio E-105 in my case) with a wireless card, and control other full Windoze machines from it. Really slow, but very cool indeed!
