No sound - possible weak power supply or something else?
If the power supply is cause of no sound, where can I get replacement?

I have a used IO that came with no power supply. I am using a Toshiba laptop power adapter. (I don't have the specs with me but it is for a Tecra). It seems to work for the most part. I can run a laptop and USB device with no problems.

No sound comes the speakers during boot up (BIOS screen). I've read that there is some audio that plays during boot up but I never heard it before since I am not the original owner. When I installed Windows, I see that the sound device is fine in the Control Panel. I can "play" an audio file in WIndows Media, but there is no sound.

I've read in the old posts that a weak power supply can be the culprit. To save me the trouble of wasting money, has anybody here used a laptop power adapter AND have sound? Or perhaps there is something in BIOS that is not set properly. I checked BIOS but I don't see anything related to sound device.

If my power supply is fine, then I'll get a volt meter or something to test the speaker connection.

Thanks!

Your power supply probably is not putting enough voltage. My orignal ps quit recently
and I had to use one that only put out 15 volts, no sound. I just recieved a HP laptop
ps that puts out 19v @3.16a, good sound.
The minium is 18v @2.5a. Any thing less and sound goes. You can even use 12 car power,
but will have sound problems unless you get an inverter to up the voltage.
