I have a question that's the reverse of the normal question: my mom was using her iopener with an Earthlink account until last week, when the iopener died. Now, she wants me to set up a normal computer to access that email account. The questions are:
1. did the iopener use pop or imap? I assume it's pop, but the iopener didn't have a storage device, so did it leave email on the server?
2. Earthlink gives her a mindspring email address with her ISP service, and I tried using pop.mindspring.com. With this pop server, I can get her mindspring email, but not her iopener email. I'm trying to get her name@iopener.net email.
3. I tried using name@iopener.net as the user name, and a funky password she had written down, but the pop server says the password is wrong. Not sure whether I am barking up the wrong tree completely, or if I'm close. We're pretty sure the password is right. Do pop servers always say the password is wrong, even if the user name is also wrong?
4. does anyone know what mail server was originally used by the iopener? It's possible Earthlink took over that name to serve the iopener customers.
