This article proves that the CL-PS7500FE development board was used in a modified form in the
webpal/teknema internet TV. There are only a few minor changes to the design but the arm to memory access paths look to be the same.

http://www.cirrus.com/press/news/index.cfm?NewsID=121

Also I found that the operating system used in the device is made by
GreenTech
www.greentech.com
tried their page with out any success.

Finally I found this:
http://www.teknema.com/easy/teknema/
which seems to have a bit more info about the device made by teknema including a manual and setting config walk through. There are also some firmware updates but I'd rather use the ones at
http://www.teknema.com/easy/newcom/
but I'm afraid to use either because I don't want to destroy mine.

I was thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea if a few of us chipped in to buy a dev board or two for the more experienced in the web-board to try to figure out how the thing works in more detail. I dunno anyone else have any input. I just don't want to see a cool project like this die. Also has anyone contacted teknema and asked if they have any devtools or the auto config server to auto update and auto config the device?

i just want to give a fear warning: DO NOT update your webpal bios with other brand bios (e.g. teknema, daewoo) - no matter it's newer etc - it just won't work!

this is what i did - i downloaded a reasonably newer teknema bios which fir in 1MB (the newest bioses won't fit in 1MB, you need 2MB flash upgarade for them). since then my webpal sits in the darkest corner of the room, in the heap of empty boxes - it's rendered unusable! it boots to show the teknema logo and menu and that's all - it doesn't respond to the remote or the kbd. i guess they use different ports for kbd/IR in teknema and newcome. or that bios needed 2MB flash? who knows.

daewoo version of webpal had a small button behind (http://daewoo.forus.com/sad.html), which when pressed during the boot, switched to a factory bios - i.e. if you screw something up with bios image, you have the chance to download the proper one this time. not the case with webpal - there is a button behind but it's a reset. otoh, on the motherboard there is a small button of a kind.... if you press it during the boot... newcom webpal just doesn't boot :). which leads me to the thought that if newcom had put 2MB flash instead of 1 (1MB for the current, latest bios and 1MB for the 'emergency repair' one) i would be saved. well, they didn't.

meanwhile, i accept any ideas how can i restore my webpal to a usable state...
