IR Keyboard / Remote carrier frequency

Does anyone know the carrier frequency of the IR keyboard and remote that come with the webpal? Is it ~38KHz similar to AV remotes like your TV and VCR use?

My Webpal is kind of out of the way, so I want to wire in an external detector to the IR receiver pads. To do so I need to know the carrier frequency so I can order an additional IR detector, such as the Vishay TSOP17xx or similar. I'm assuming the little silver box on the IR reciever pads is sending a demodulated signal to the AT89C52; does that sound right?

On a related note; has anyone co-opted their webpal keyboard and remote for use in controlling their regular PC via LIRC or Girder?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Mike.

I don't know for sure, but I searched around the web for the "Sejin SWK-8630" and came up with the following page which seems to indicate its 38Khz. From looking at other pages, it looks like they make two versions of this keyboard 56k and 38k.

Note also that webpal keyboards are used by ReplayTV owners (most of the keys work on a ReplayTV) so that would again seem
to indicate 38k frequency.

Let us know what you find out.
