Group Buy for second 1MB Flash chip

If there is interest, I will host a group buy for the second 1MB chip which when soldered onto the existing 1MB flash simm will give us 2MB. it looks as though costs for this would be about $10 each.

I have also found some 2MB chips that are physically compatable but more than twice as expensive, 29F016.. and I would assume that there are larger variations as well..

Considering that my soldering skills are horrible, and my experience lies not in hardware hacking, perhaps something else could be arranged. If anyone has found a 3rd-party flash simm that can be dropped in, I've got an idea that somebody might want to run with. Would anyone be willing to purchase some simms, program them with a linux kernel, and send them out at cost + nominal fee + shipping? For that matter, is there even a way to get a general purpose kernel image put together for this (so if someone wanted to forgo the hard drive and mount root over nfs, they could do so without change)

I've found a place that has 72 pin flash simms up to 16MB but am not sure about compatability or availability
