After successfully setting up, applying the patches from BigBrd's site
and cross compiling, I finally ended up with a zImage I can boot on
the webpal.

But, I found a site: http://www.luban.org/Webpal/ which has a patch
that will fix F-keys on the wireless kybd and add an erase command
to aid in re-flashing.

I tried to apply this patch, but it complained over and over about
"Reversed (or previously applied patch)"

Does this patch superseed BigBrd's patch? Does this mean that BigBrd's
patch contains Vit_sfba's fixes already?

What does one usually do when parts of one person's patch is contained
in the other's, but each have something new that you want to apply?

OK, so I guess I just need to read TONS of documentation :^)

Anyway, I combined bigbrd's, vit's/scratchy's, and alex's (sound)
into one patch. It works for me, let me know if it works OK for you.
Apply this on a 2.4.18 kernel which already has the patch-2.4.18-rmk4

ALSO, if you want to use the sound you can use these modules

/sbin/insmod soundcore.o
/sbin/insmod sound.o
/sbin/insmod vidc_mod.o

When I try to use the sound I get the message Can't open /dev/dsp! Is there something else I have to do?

Yes, you have to face the moon, click your heals 3 times (very important)
and repeat, theres nothing like ARM linux...

Seriously though :^)

Did you do the sbin/insmod's ?

what did you type to get that response?

I did the insmods with the module files from your website. I compiled mpg123 on the webpal and got the error when I ran it. I will have to wait until tonight to try your suggestion about the moon.

I never played with the sound very much. I did do a
"cat test.wav > /dev/dsp" just to make sure it worked.

I really hope you get mpg123 to work. It'd be great to
hook this up to the stereo in the home entertainment
setup since this is going to be its next home. I finally
got the 16BPP support working. Will post that info to
appropriate thread...

Hi,

You are getting 'reversed patch' messages
from patch utility because my patch includes
BigBrd's one. Basically, when it says
"against 2.4.18-rmk-4", that means, that you
have to take 2.4.18 source tree, apply rmk-4
patch and then apply my patch. :)
