Went to the local ChumpUSA and picked up the very last WebSurfer. It rang up for $199 +tax. Told the lady WTF?!? Website says $49... She looked looked at me like I was on crack and without even thinking told me they do not price match online. I politely asked her "Not even your own website?" She gave me an evil look and went to her little ChumpUSA clubhouse/office... dum dee dum.. 15 min later, she rings me up for $49 and there was no sticker or paper taped to it. May help anyone else looking to get one to go in with a print out of the price from ChumpUSA's site: http://www.compusastores.com/products/products.asp?prodzip=
Looks promising inside the WS. There's a port ment for regular 40 IDE drive, but the pins are missing... Not cut, but completely missing and may be possible to solder on your own. Working out plans for that when I replace my gimpy soldering iron with a new one. For now, I will be trying my old soundcard that has IDE on it. There's jumpers galor to voltage (2.2v and 2.9v) and what looks like FSB and multipliers... everything needed to upgrade the Proc. Enough typing and back to work. I will possibly post pics and details if enough people are interested. Certainly entertaining alternative while waiting for my IO I ordered 3/20. :p

I picked up a websurfer pro this even and mine rang up as $49.99 (although I did have the printout of the website's price just in case I had to lay the smack down.) There were a couple other guys in there getting them too. There were probably only about 4 or 5 left.

Don't waist time on the IDE port, there is more to it than adding a header, i've done that already, modded the BIOS without LOGO and started snooping around. I will post the findings as the happen.
Been There, Done That. The on board IDE works. You have to add the 40 pin header, 6 RN resistor packs, plus 2 single resistors.
RN values 33 ohms or so. You can use a wire if you want. The two resistors between the RN packs I used where 1k ohm.

We haven't tried to add resistors yet, needed to figure out values before we attempted it, Glad to hear you got it working.

Yes Add 6 R-Packs we used 10 ohm, that's what we had and the 2 singles 33 ohm we should probally increase them. Boots the Hard drive fine. May not be worth the effort since ISA/PCI controllers are cheap and quick, but it's nice to know it does work.
whats the URL for the websurfer on compusa, I can't for the life of me find it. When I call the pricing and availablity line they tell me that the websurfer is 199 and I can't find the web page to demonstrate otherwise

As far as I can tell, ChumpUSA doesn't have the WebSurfer listed anymore on the website.
Got the WS to boot with Gimpows 98. Wanted to see if I could get the thing to boot up and I happen to have an old HD laying around with 98 already on it for quick testing. Working on getting an install of Redhat going.

I bought two today for $100 at crapusa. Amazing deal and an interesting device with many possibilities. Does anyone know anything about the m-board. It has a very standard looking BIOS with nothing disabled. You could cram a hard-drive, maybe even a floppy drive into the case. Are there any other sites to get info about this thing?

There is a whole new area on the BBS for the WebSurfer, look at the bottom of the page when you go to:
I added the IDE connector and resistor packs and the two chip resistors, and it ain't recognizing the drive. Was it necessary to change any jumpers? Any tips or hints are appreciated.
