I picked up one of these sweet little honies, so damn excited I forgot my 7.00$ change...
Anyway, I'm looking to turn this thing into a set top/car mp3 player, I definitely want it on linux, so there's no question there, but the question is, what software? and how to interface with it?
The best solution I've found for the car is stump3 http://theonline.org/linux/stump3.phtml its a perl script that reads off of read only partitions, so shutting down doesn't involve any unmounting or fsck's on startup. It interfaces with a keypad, and I would assume that getting a ps2 keypad shouldn't be _that_ hard to find, or even make if it comes down to it.
I'm somewhat against having to buy an LCD, or a VFD, simply because I'm poor :P
I'd also like to use it as a set top box, stump3 would work fine for this, but just a plain text terminal seems boring to me (assuming thats what you would see if you plugged it into the TV). So some sort of visualization would be cool, if something like that was available.
I'm totally open for suggestions, I haven't even started modifying this thing, just got it last night, and all I've had a chance to do is open it.
Also, any digi-key ref numbers for the resistor packs you need for the IDE, the COM chip, the IDE/COM headers, would be greatly appreciated :)
