Well, I've been lookin at them darn contact points for the new resistors, and they look very small :)
I am wondering if, instead of using resistor packs (4 contacts on each side) I could use 4 resistors. I realize that this probably requires dexterity I will never have but I will try anway if it sounds like this could possibly be successful.

so i understand 33 ohm resistors at all of the contact points next to the ide except where 2 1k ohm resistors go. Also, can I use some 33 ohm, some 22, some 47 etc. ?

I'm using 10 ohm x 4 resistor packs, but you can use individual resistors (I'm not sure if you need 0603 or 0402. Most of the discretes are 0603, but the pads for the resistor networks are smaller and spaced closer).

any opinion on using different ohm resistors on same little groups and stuff? Also, I have to be very sure not to let the solder connect any of the contacts on the pcb right?
I just bought a really good soldering iron and I figure I can do this stuff if I just take all day long.

Why use the separate resistors...It's easier to use the packs.
If you have trouble finding these look on junk P-II motherboards next to the ide connectors...
I have carefully removed them with heat gun set on low...outside for safety...
I also use fast set epoxy to hold the packs in place for easier soldering let fully cure first before soldering(USE VERY VERY LITTLE) avoid getting any epoxy on the solder pads...
use 25 watt iron and small diameter solder (I use extra flux to)inspect all joints with high power mag glass and bright light.
