Last night, I got one easy as pie from the Monrovia, Ca store last night. 'Cept they had to hunt for it. Where I live, Burbank, said they were awaiting a shipment of 13. I got it home, doesn't quite boot yet, but I like it.
Went out to buy 5 more this evening. Went to Burbank 1st. Still awaiting shipment. Went to Monrovia, where there were at least 5 last night. After politely encourageing the zitty dumb little girl who worked there to get her lazy butt back in the back to keep looking for the four that the computer said were back there, another more helpful guy came out. He couldn't find them either, talked to Mgr. and then explained to me that they were told to ship them back, some sort of discontinuance. "What are you gonna do with 5 of them?" "Put all my computer illiterate relatives on email." "Ha Ha, funny!" he said for some reason. (BS, ebay, I'll admit it.) Same deal at the Industry store, 'cept the guys there already knew exactly what a websurfer was."Ahhh, your gonna hack it, huh?" Manager was cool and said that the order came thru their system at midnight last night, and he later got a phone call from his superiors saying he dare not sell any, and to send the rest back. I gather that they had many of them.
I'll see what pans out in Burbank when that "shipment" arrives. Well, within a short period of a /. article, another company is losing a $h1tl0@d of money! Perhaps they are determined to go a different way then the iopener folks? | |
