Looking to Upgrade my Car MP3 Setup (modified 0 times)
Mr. Pute
I've got a Websurfer Pro O/Ced with 32MB ram and a 3.2GB hard drive. I've also got a homebuilt 4x20 LCD display I'm using for visualization. I want to go the full nine yards and purchase a VGA or NTSC LCD screen. It can't be as big as the I-Opener because it won't fit in my car too well. I'm think more along the lines of a 5-8 inch LCD. I don't want to spend over $200 for the LCD alone. Can somebody help me out??

Same problem I am having. I think I will prolly end up making that 10 incher from an iO work. I deal I think would be ~6 inch, but damn, those thigns are expensive. Cheapest I have found is a 4" for $50 from an ad in Poptronics. But that is just a tad too small for doing anything but an mp3 player, and Im looking for more than that. Well...thats what Im looking for, but I dont think very much else is gonna fit in my VERY limited budget.<--Insert Clever Comment Here-->

Cant tell you for sure. I will ask him next hour in class. All i know was that it was some ad in either this or last months issue of Poptronics. I will try to get the ad from him and maybe i can scan it in for all of you.

Hell if that screen is only $50 I might just go with that for now. Is it TFT? How about NTSC?? Does it come with the power inverter???

MCM electronics (www.mcmelectronics.com) has a (4 inch I think???) COLOR TFT LCD TV for something like $150. No tuner, just a LCD video monitor (NTSC in) perhaps that would work well?

Way too much for a 4" LCD. I was checking out the other ones there and I found a 5.8" for $229. That's not bad but could be better.

This site has a bunch of cheap LCDs, though I can't really tell you anything about them because I don't know anything about LCDs. http://www.digisys.net/timeline/lcd.html

Naw. None of those will do because the good ones don't come with a controller or power inverter. It's like a million to one chance that you will be able to locate the other parts.

I got my lcd for my car at www.eio.com. They have a 6" Sharp LCD that requires you to build a power supply. They are only $100 but are now out of stock. Keep checking, they come in from time to time.
